Forest School in Year 5/6 - 26.06.15
Date: 26th Jun 2015 @ 4:45pm
Today we did maths in Forest School! Our lesson was all related to trees!
There were 6 activities to choose from. One of the most popular was working out the age of a tree by calcualting its girth (using string) and then dividing this number by 2.5. We found that the oldest tree in the area was 153 years old! We also had a leaf hunt activity and discuvered that there are also chestnut trees and rowan trees in our area. Another task was to carry out a tree census to find out how many of each tree there is in Forest School. And another activity was working out the number of leaves on a tree by multiplying the number on a twig, by the under of twigs on a branch, by the number of branches on a tree!
We had a great time and learnt alot.
